Switching
Bring a project over
A LaTeX project is a folder of plain text files, so it moves easily.
- Download your project’s source as a .zip from your current editor (Overleaf offers this from its project menu)
- In Tex.ink, create a project from the .zip: the main document and the compiler are detected, XeLaTeX or LuaLaTeX included
- Or link a GitHub repository if your project already lives there
- Compile, and invite your co-authors with the role each one needs
Before you switch
Questions worth checking
Whatever editor you choose, these are the points that usually matter.
- Do your co-authors need to edit at the same time, and how many of them?
- How long do your largest documents take to compile?
- Do you need tracked changes and comments for supervisors or reviewers?
- Does your institution have rules on AI tools, and can AI be turned off?
- Do you need invoices, purchase orders or single sign-on?
