1. Who we are
Tex.ink (“we”, “us”) operates the website at tex.ink and the application at app.tex.ink. For any question about this policy or your data, write to support@tex.ink.
2. Data we collect
- Account data. When you sign up we receive your name, email address and, if you sign in with a provider such as GitHub or Google, the basic profile information that provider shares. Authentication is handled by our identity provider (Clerk).
- Your content. The projects you create: LaTeX sources, uploaded files, compiled PDFs, comments, chat messages and version history. Your content belongs to you.
- Billing data. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by our billing provider. We never see or store your full card number.
- Usage and log data. IP address, browser type, pages visited, compile activity and error logs — the technical minimum needed to run, secure and debug the service.
- Integration data. If you connect GitHub or Zotero, we store the access tokens and the data needed to sync (repository contents, citation library). You can disconnect an integration at any time.
3. How we use your data
- To provide the service: store projects, sync edits in real time and compile documents in isolated sandboxes.
- To operate AI features: when you use the AI assistant, the relevant parts of your document and your request are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) solely to generate the response. AI features only run when you invoke them, and a project owner can turn them off per project.
- To send transactional email: invitations, @mention notifications, billing receipts and important service announcements. Notification emails can be disabled in your settings.
- To secure the service: abuse prevention, rate limiting and debugging.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use your content to train AI models.
4. Who we share data with
We share data only with the service providers needed to run Tex.ink: hosting and content delivery (Cloudflare, Railway), identity and billing (Clerk and its payment processor), and AI processing (Anthropic) when you use the assistant. Each provider processes data on our instructions. We may also disclose data when the law requires it.
5. Retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. If you delete a project, or your account, the data is removed from our production systems promptly and from backups within 90 days. You can export your sources and PDFs at any time before deleting.
6. Security
All traffic is encrypted in transit (TLS). Every compilation runs in an isolated sandbox with no network access. Access to production systems is restricted and logged. Projects are private until you explicitly share them, and you choose each collaborator’s role.
7. Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your data from your account settings, or by writing to support@tex.ink. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you additionally have the rights granted by the GDPR — including the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
8. International transfers
Our providers may process data outside your country. Where that happens, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
9. Children
Tex.ink is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
10. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will announce them in the application or by email before they take effect. The date at the top of this page always reflects the latest version.
